A week in the life of an intern – by Sophie Tolchard

By 23rd September 2013August 22nd, 2019Blog

When you are applying for a job the employer will often list previous experience as a desirable trait in order for you to be considered for the job role. Therefore, it is important to find some valuable work experience so that you can demonstrate to a future employer that you have the ability to take on the role that they are advertising. In April, 2013, Mezzo took me on as an intern for one week in order to give me a little more insight into the world of PR and Marketing. During my week at Mezzo,

  • I observed and gained an understanding of PR activity in a B2B environment by attending a client meeting.
  • I developed my skills by writing press releases and blog items required for clients.
  • I gained an understanding of media software used by Mezzo to research the media and find journalists as well as learning how press/media coverage is monitored and measured using an online portal.

Being the designated brew maker is expected with any work experience, but beyond the stewed bags of tea, there is some valuable experience to be gained, and not to mention it looks great on your CV.
